New Performance!
Masks and costumes have been used
since the beginning of time by cultures all over the
world in celebration, theater, religious/ceremonies,
social rebellion, healing, and other important functions.
This performance shares stories about these varied uses
of masks, characters, and costumes. The audience gets
to watch Elizabeth put on whiteface and transform into
Dripping Cloud, a silent mime. The show includes rag-time
piano, displays of Giggly
Sprout and Gumbo Wobbly's exquisite costumes, miming
and masking with Dripping Cloud, and stories that give
an enlightening look at the cultural and historical value
of these art forms.
Length: approx. 50 minutes.
One elderly lady noted that this performance
is a great way for adults to understand the aging process
that our bodies experience. She said that she still feels
like a little girl inside, but when she looks in the mirror,
it's as if she is wearing the mask of an old woman.
